Aldon Smith released by Raiders

Aldon Smith has found himself in trouble with the law once again, and the Oakland Raiders have apparently had enough.

Not long after police confirmed that Smith was named as a suspect in a domestic violence incident over the weekend, the Raiders announced that they have released the linebacker.

Police were reportedly searching for Smith as of Monday morning after his fiancee claimed he assaulted her and fled the scene. The woman later told TMZ Smith contacted her parents and they brought him to a rehab facility, and she said she is concerned that he needs to get his substance abuse problem under control.

According to police reports from Saturday’s incident, the victim said Smith bit her wrists before climbing out a window and fleeing in his vehicle. She said he had been drinking heavily. Smith shared a cryptic photo on Instagram Sunday amid reports that police were searching for him.

Smith missed the entire 2016 and 2017 seasons while serving a suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy and a number of other things. With the Raiders finally deciding to part ways with him, there’s a good chance Smith has played his last down in the NFL.
