Alshon Jeffery suspended four games for violating PED policy

Alshon Jeffery

The Chicago Bears announced on Monday that wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has been suspended four games for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drug use.

It’s unclear what substance Jeffery tested positive for, as the NFL does not reveal details of failed PED tests.

Jeffery has been one of the best receivers in football when healthy, but he seems to always be banged up and struggled to stay on the field last season. The Bears chose to use the franchise tag on Jeffery after the 26-year-old appeared in just nine games.

Through nine games this season, Jeffery has caught 40 passes for 630 yards and one touchdown. He recently expressed frustration with the Bears’ lack of offensive production.

Jeffery will be eligible to return on Dec. 12 and can play Week 15 against the Green Bay Packers.

With free agency looming, you have to wonder if the suspension will negatively impact Jeffery’s value on the open market.
