Andre Johnson: Andrew Luck is the best QB in the NFL

Andrew-Luck

Andre Johnson is so excited to be a member of the Indianapolis Colts that he may even be overselling it a bit at this point.

For example, Johnson already feels that Andrew Luck is the best quarterback in the league, despite the fact that the two have yet to play an actual down together.

“He’s a hell of a player,” Johnson said Tuesday, per Mike Wells of ESPN.com. “I think he’s the best quarterback in this game.”

On one hand, you can’t blame Johnson for being excited. The seven-time Pro Bowler dealt with a revolving door of quarterbacks during his 12 seasons with the Houston Texans, and he produced with all of them. That said, most people would argue that Luck hasn’t quite caught up to Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning.

Johnson is confident Luck can break through to that level.

“When you look at all the teams that have won Super Bowls over the past few years, they’ve all had great quarterback play, and we have a great quarterback here,” he said. “I can’t say I’ve been fortunate enough to play with a great quarterback in my 12 years in this league, so I’m able to play with one now.”

You’d be hard-pressed to find a better quarterback to start a franchise with than Luck. He’s still only 25, and it’s obvious he is going to be the best quarterback in the league one day. Heck, he’s six years young than Rodgers. But Luck will probably have to reach a Super Bowl before he’s part of the “best in the NFL” discussion.
