Andrew Luck not starting against Texans

Andrew Luck beard

Andrew Luck is expected to miss his second consecutive game when the Indianapolis Colts take on the Houston Texans Thursday night.

Both NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter are reporting that Matt Hasselbeck will get the start once again, as Luck is still dealing with a shoulder injury.

It was revealed earlier this week that Luck suffered a partial separation of his throwing shoulder during his team’s win over the Tennessee Titans. While there was reportedly no structural damage to the shoulder, Luck is said to be dealing with some soreness and a lack of strength.

Luck was optimistic earlier this week that he would be good to go against Houston, but doubt began setting in on Wednesday when Colts coach Chuck Pagano said the team would “do the right thing” in handling Luck’s injury.

Some poor play early in the season from Luck led to harsh criticism from Pagano, but there’s no question the Colts need their starting quarterback to get healthy in a hurry. Hasselbeck did enough to lead Indy to an overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. The Colts may not be so lucky on the road against the Texans.
