Andrew Luck still not practicing, early October return looking less likely

Andrew Luck

There was once a time when it seemed like Andrew Luck may be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. Now, Indianapolis Colts fans find themselves wondering if they are going to see their starting quarterback at any point in 2017.

Luck has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. That was expected, but the more concerning update came Wednesday when Chuck Pagano said Luck is not going to practice at all this week.

The positive news with Luck is that the Colts chose to take him off the physically unable to perform list before the season started, meaning they expect him back before Week 6. That doesn’t mean it will happen, as it’s always possible Luck suffered a setback or isn’t recovering as quickly as the team hoped he would.

Luck had offseason shoulder surgery in January, and Colts owner Jim Irsay expressed confidence at the time that the franchise QB would be ready for Week 1. Despite one or two positive updates that have been sprinkled in, most of the news surrounding Luck’s recovery has not been stellar.
