Antrel Rolle used Orbitz email as sign to pick Bears

Antrel RolleAntrel Rolle was looking for a little guidance as he tried to decide his free agent destination. The veteran safety agreed to a 3-year, $11.25 million contract with the Bears this week, and he said on the radio Friday that a random email from Orbitz helped him choose Chicago.

Rolle spoke with “Joe & Evan” on WFAN in New York Friday and shared the story about how the email helped him make a choice.

“It was between the Washington Redskins and Chicago Bears. I just asked God before I was going to sleep Sunday and I asked, ‘God, I pray that you give me a level head. Just give me a sign to lead me in the right direction, and I will follow your lead.

“It was Monday morning at 4:33 a.m. — I never wake up in the middle of the night — and I got an email to my phone. The email said: Orbitz alert – flights to Chicago, discount fare.’ And it just hit!” Rolle said.

He took the email as a sign to pick the Bears.

“The hardest thing I’ve ever had to do is leave the New York Giants,” he concedes.

Rolle even posted on Instagram a photo of the fated email:

Even though Rolle credited the email for helping to tip the scales in favor of Chicago, it sounds like the Bears were coming after him the hardest.

“(The Bears) were the first team to approach me. I got calls from Coach (John) Fox all the way down to their DB’s coach. They said they were very interested in me and felt they believed my skill level was top-notch. They were the most interested team throughout my free agency process.”

Just because he’s going to Chicago on a 3-year deal for multi-millions doesn’t make leaving New York easy. Rolle said it hit him Thursday that he would no longer be with the Giants, and that realization made him cry.

The Bears are going to love having Rolle in the locker room. From his bold predictions to his callouts of his teammates, Rolle satisfies for nothing less than winning and working hard.
