Aqib Talib suspended one game for eye poke on Dwayne Allen

Aqib Talib eye poke

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib has been suspended for poking an opponent in the eye during Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Mike Klis of 9 News in Denver reports that the NFL has banned Talib for one game. The two-time Pro Bowler is expected to appeal the suspension.

Talib rushed over when teammate Von Miller got into an altercation with Colts tight end Dwayne Allen with three minutes remaining in Denver’s 27-24 loss. Talib was slapped with a very costly 15-yard penalty for poking Allen in the eye. You can see the video here.

Allen referred to Talib’s stunt as a “cheap play,” but Talib claimed Allen was milking it.

“From my angle, I see (Allen) head butt Von a little bit. I went over to poke his head, and I think my hand slipped and hit his face,” he said, according to The Denver Post. “He acted like he got in an 18-passenger car wreck. I guess that’s what type of guy he is.”

The Broncos are getting set to face the Kansas City Chiefs at home coming off their first loss of the season.
