Report: Aqib Talib’s top choice would be to join Patriots
Aqib Talib is eyeing a return to the New England Patriots, according to a report.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported on Wednesday that the Denver Broncos have had trade talks with the San Francisco 49ers regarding Talib. However, she says that Talib’s preference is to be released rather than traded so that he can choose his next team. She says his top choice would be to rejoin the Pats.
I’m told there had been trade conversations going on between
the Broncos & the 49ers for Aqib Talib. It doesn’t look like it’s going to
get done. Told Talib prefers to be released by Denver so he can chose his next team, his top choice is the New England Patriots per sources— Dianna Russini (@diannaESPN) March 7, 2018
The 32-year-old played for the Patriots from 2012-2013 before leaving for the Broncos. Talib continues to grade out as one of the better cover corners in the league. With the Patriots set to lose Malcolm Butler, they could be in the market for a replacement and might have interest in Talib.
Talib made a few interesting comments about the Patriots after leaving for Denver He praised Peyton Manning over Tom Brady, and then he openly discussed New England’s odd injury reporting. He better hope the Pats have forgiven him.
