Arian Foster to receive increased workload against Colts

Arian Foster

Arian Foster had an uninspiring 2015 regular season debut last weekend, but a lot of that had to do with game flow as the Atlanta Falcons were blowing the doors off the Houston Texans. Foster hopes to contribute more and see different results on Thursday.

According to Aaron Wilson of The Houston Chronicle, the Texans are planning to increase Foster’s workload against the Indianapolis Colts. The veteran back rushed for just 10 yards on eight carries against Atlanta and caught three passes for 25 yards. He also lost a fumble that was accidentally forced by a teammate and returned the other way for a touchdown.

In his second game back from groin surgery, Foster has only one thing in mind.

“To win,” he said when asked what his personal goals are. “To help win.”

The Texans have not gotten quality play from the quarterback position when either Brian Hoyer or Ryan Mallet are under center. The ideal scenario would be for Texas to get its offense back running through Foster before it is too late, as the team currently has a 1-3 record.

“Yeah, that’s the thing about offense,” the four-time Pro Bowler said. “It has to be a well-oiled machine and it takes time to develop and you have a short amount of time to do that. We’re all professionals and doing what we can to accomplish that.”

Foster returned earlier than many expected he would, and these comments from the Texans owner may have helped motivate him. While he is 29 and coming off a significant injury, we still wouldn’t bet against him having a major impact this season.
