Arian Foster: Thursday Night Football is ‘annoying’ and dangerous

Arian-Foster-Texans

Arian Foster and the Houston Texans lost a tough overtime game to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and they are set to take on the Indianapolis Colts in just four short days. That’s what happens when you’re scheduled for Thursday Night Football, and Foster isn’t a fan.

On Monday, Foster told reporters that Thursday night games are “annoying for players.” He also said they are dangerous and hypocritical in an era where the NFL tries to place such an emphasis on safety.

“I don’t know a player that likes it,” Foster said, via Brian T. Smith of The Houston Chronicle. “I really don’t know a fan that likes it, either. I think it’s just the league’s way of trying to generate more revenue.”

Ratings for the Thursday night games have remained relatively high despite some completely lopsided affairs. The average margin of victory for winning teams has been 28.8 points.

“They emphasize concussions when they start getting hit with lawsuits and they care about the players’ safety but Thursday Night Football is putting every player on the football field in danger,” Foster added.

Plenty of fans like having games on Thursday nights to give them something to watch in the middle of the week, especially those who play fantasy football. While I agree with Foster that Thursday night games may pose more of a threat to player safety since players have less time to rest and recover, he hasn’t spoken to many fans if he doesn’t know one who enjoys Thursday Night Football.
