Arian Foster to work out for Dolphins and Lions

Arian Foster

There hadn’t been a lot of talk recently about potential landing spots for Arian Foster, but now we have an idea of some teams potentially interested in the running back.

Foster is a free agent and rehabbing from a torn Achilles’ tendon that limited him to just four games last season. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Foster will work out for two different teams this week — the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions.

Foster turns 30 next month and has not played a full season since 2012. He played in eight regular season games in 2013; 13 in 2014; and four last season. Still, his talent and ability has to be intriguing to some teams.

The Dolphins will have a number of backs in camp, including Jay Ajayi, Kenyan Drake, Damien Williams and Daniel Thomas. However, they could use a real playmaker after losing Lamar Miller to the Texans in free agency, and they might not mind swapping backs by grabbing the former Houston stud.

The Lions have Ameer Abdullah, Theo Riddick, Stevan Ridley and a few others on the roster, so they appear to be more solidified at the running back position than Miami, but they may be doing their due diligence on Foster.

Prior to his injury, Foster was averaging a career-low 2.6 yards per carry last season. In 2014, he rushed for 1,246 yards and posted a combined 13 touchdowns.
