Art Briles: Cowboys ‘would be a great place’ for Robert Griffin III

Robert-Griffin-braids

Robert Griffin III’s college coach, Art Briles, thinks the Cowboys are an ideal fit for the quarterback.

Briles, speaking at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, told Brandon George of the Dallas Morning News that such a pairing would be mutually beneficial.

“You could have a dream. That would probably be making it come true,” Briles said of the prospect of Griffin on the Cowboys. “That would be a great place for him. It’s a great organization; being back in Texas and with the Cowboys and having a chance to get in there under Romo for three years. Not that they need to sell tickets, but it wouldn’t hurt ticket sales.”

Griffin is almost certain to be dumped by Washington during the offseason, and the Cowboys are an obvious potential destination for a number of reasons. Jerry Jones loves to make a splash, Tony Romo is aging and spent most of the season hurt, and Griffin spent much of his life in Texas. The question is whether he’d want to back up Romo or try to compete for a starting job elsewhere, though we’ve heard reports that RG3 is interested in Dallas.
