Barkevious Mingo says going from Browns to Patriots is ‘culture shock’

Barkevious-Mingo

Barkevious Mingo may as well have hit the lottery when the Cleveland Browns traded him to the New England Patriots, and the former first-round pick has already seen some major differences in the way the two teams operate.

Mingo seemed pleased about the transition while speaking to reporters earlier this week.

“It’s a huge culture shock,” he said, via Adam Kurkjian of the Boston Herald. “I felt like the winning spirit was making its way into Cleveland with those new coaches, but it’s definitely been established here for a long time, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Mingo has already been labeled a draft bust, as he did very little in Cleveland after the Browns used the No. 6 overall pick on him in the 2013 NFL Draft. He was supposed to be a great NFL pass-rusher, but he has recorded just seven career sacks in 46 games.

That said, Mingo is only 25. While he is no lock to make the Patriots’ 53-man roster, he’s been given a great opportunity to start fresh with an organization that has done nothing but win for over a decade. If the former LSU star can’t make Harry Potter proud now, he probably never will.
