Ben McAdoo showed Giants ‘Game of Thrones’ scene as motivation

Ben McAdoo

You know how we know Ben McAdoo is going to coach the New York Giants with a slightly different style than that of Tom Coughlin? Because we highly doubt Coughlin would use “Game of Thrones” as a motivational tactic.

Steve Serby of the New York Post has learned that McAdoo showed the Giants a gruesome scene on Wednesday from the popular HBO series that featured dogs eating a man alive.

“He showed a dog attacking somebody, and basically that’s our mindset,” one player told Serby.

“It was about being hungry, he showed us like a scene from ‘Game of Thrones,’ and it was just about being hungry, and coming to work every day,” another player said. “Just being the hungriest team in the NFL, in the NFC, all that.”

I personally don’t watch “Game of Thrones,” but I have heard some stories. Man, have I heard some stories. If you want to see the scene McAdoo supposedly showed his players, you can watch it here. Keep in mind that it — like almost everything in the show — is very graphic.

This isn’t the first time “Game of Thrones” has made its way into the world of professional sports. If you remember, an MLB pitcher said last year that one episode of the show was so emotional it affected his start. McAdoo is hoping for similar results with the Giants this season.
