Report: Bill O’Brien, Brock Osweiler at odds over Texans playcalling
The Houston Texans continue to struggle, and there seems to be a fundamental disconnect between coach and quarterback.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, quarterback Brock Osweiler and coach Bill O’Brien got into a shouting match during a meeting during the week over offensive playcalling. Osweiler apparently voiced his dislike for some of O’Brien’s playcalls, and things escalated from there.
Team sources tried to downplay the incident, but the shouting match was reportedly severe enough that it was the source of some locker room chatter after it happened.
It’s worth noting that, according to La Canfora, the fact that Osweiler is in Houston has more to do with ownership and management than coaching. O’Brien, who works his quarterbacks hard, will not be happy that his starter is 31st in the league with a brutal 70.6 quarterback rating.
Osweiler recently had a sharp response to his own critics. Perhaps O’Brien is one of them.
