Bill O’Brien could see JJ Watt being ready for Week 1
The word on J.J. Watt’s status continues to indicate positive news for the Houston Texans.
Last week a report said Watt expects to return to practice this week for the Texans, ahead of the team’s final preseason game.
Head coach Bill O’Brien also made comments on Monday indicating he could see Watt being ready for Week 1.
“I’m not committing to that, but I could definitely see that,” O’Brien said Monday via the Texans. “When I look into my crystal ball, I could see him playing the Chicago Bears. I can envision that. That’s something that I’m envisioning. I’d like to see him in there for a number of our games this year.”
“J.J. is progressing well,” O’Brien said. “He’s made a lot of improvement over the last couple of weeks. He’s really on the right track. We feel good about where he is right now.”
Watt had a back surgery just before the start of training camp and reports indicated he could miss upwards of two months. Watt has always been a fast healer, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him ready for Week 1.
