Bill Romanowski recalls time he threw microwave at Dexter Carter

During a 16-year NFL career, Bill Romanowski was no stranger to run ins with teammates. During an interview with ESPN radio on Wednesday, he recalled the time he got into one in a 49ers lunchroom that involved a kitchen appliance.

Romanowski starts by describing a microwave oven that had the ability to heat up one sandwich rather quickly, but take a pretty absurd amount of time to heat up two. With Romanowski’s sandwich already in the microwave, Carter added his sandwich as well. Romanowski asked Carter to take his sandwich out. Carter refused so Romanowski took it out for him. After having words for a few minutes, Romanowski ultimately threw the microwave at Carter, grabbed him by the neck, and pinned up him up against a wall telling him not to do that again.

While this sounds completely ridiculous, being over a sandwich and all, it also sounds like the most Bill Romanowski thing ever. The best part of the interview actually might not have been the actual act of throwing a microwave at a teammate, though. It could be how casually Romanowski said, “It was a quick one. Nobody got hurt, I just threw a microwave at him” as if it wasn’t a big deal or particularly noteworthy. I’d say, that’s definitely worth elaborating on.
