Report: Blaine Gabbert expected to start for Cardinals vs. Texans
Try to contain your excitement, NFL fans, because it sounds as though this weekend’s Arizona Cardinals-Houston Texans game will feature an exhilarating quarterback matchup between Blaine Gabbert and Tom Savage.
Mike Jurecki of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM is reporting that Gabbert will get the start for the Cardinals on Sunday over Drew Stanton, who is dealing with a knee injury. Stanton suffered a knee sprain in last Thursday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and he was able to practice on a limited basis this week.
The Cardinals signed Matt Barkley earlier in the week, which was a good indication that Stanton could be forced to miss Sunday’s game. The 4-5 Cardinals are fighting to stay in the playoff hunt, but there’s only so many key injuries a team can overcome.
