They just wanted to grab headlines and become the center of attention the day before the biggest game of the season. I forgot to add that even though ESPN says the story didn't fit their journalistic standards, they still perpetuated it all day by linking to it on the website, running it on the bottom line scroll, and discussing it in shows.
