Brock Osweiler to start for Dolphins with Ryan Tannehill out

Ryan Tannehill

Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is dealing with a shoulder injury that forced him to miss some practice time this week, and it is serious enough that he will not be able to play on Sunday.

Tannehill is officially inactive for Miami’s game against the Chicago Bears. Veteran quarterback Brock Osweiler will start in his place.

Osweiler has appeared in just seven games over the past two seasons. He has six touchdowns and five interceptions in those games, and his career has never really panned out since he had some success early on with the Denver Broncos. He’ll face a very tough task on Sunday going up against Khalil Mack and Chicago’s ferocious defensive front.

The injury to Tannehill’s shoulder is reportedly a sprained AC joint, and those have a tendency to linger and be quite painful. The starter has thrown for 972 yards, eight touchdowns and five interceptions on the year.
