Broncos reportedly never considered firing John Fox

John FoxPrior to the Denver Broncos’ loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reported that John Fox could wind up looking for a new job if Denver loses. Now that we have seen the result, could that come to fruition?

According to Mike Klis of The Denver Post, several league sources claim the Broncos never discussed firing Fox prior to Sunday’s game. That said, Klis notes that Fox has been close with Glazer for well over a decade, so the source should not be ignored.

Glazer didn’t exactly say that the Broncos are looking to fire Fox, anyway. He simply stated that there is a belief around the league that Fox could become available.

“Keep an eye on the Denver Broncos,” Glazer said, via Pro Football Talk. “That’s what a lot of these teams with openings are doing. There is a thought that, hey, if they lose today, could John Fox become available? If he is, he’ll shoot to the top of many of these lists.”

When you read the quote carefully, Glazer may have been implying that Fox could decide to walk away from the Broncos and look for another job. If Peyton Manning retires (and keep in mind what one teammate said about him), Fox may not want to stick around.
