Potential Broncos sale could reportedly shatter records
It’s far too early to know if the Denver Broncos could be hitting the open market at any time soon, but it’s at least possible, and it would be pricey.
Questions arose when a spat erupted between Beth Bowlen Wallace, the daughter of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen, and the current arrangement which sees CEO Joe Ellis overseeing the franchise as designated by Bowlen, who is suffering from Alzheimers. Bowlen Wallace believes she should be controlling owner, but the Trust has argued otherwise, a conflict which has gone public.

There’s no indication that anyone in the Bowlen family is looking to sell the franchise, but the ownership situation is uncertain, which always sparks conversation. As a major NFL franchise with recent success, though, one report said that any Broncos sale could redefine the value of pro sports franchises.
A NFL ownership source told me recently that if the Denver Broncos hit the market — if the team doesn’t stay in the Bowlen family — it’ll go for such a massive sum that it could reset franchise values and make the Panthers seem like a nice little transaction.

Recall that the Panthers’ bidding set a record. If the Broncos are going to blow that out of the water, things are going to get very, very expensive. Even if it’s not the Broncos, it will be someone else in due time.
