Report: Browns ‘hopeful’ Robert Griffin III starts again in 2016

Robert Griffin

Robert Griffin III returned to practice last week, and the Cleveland Browns are hoping he can make enough progress to help them again this season.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Browns would like to see Griffin start for them again in 2016. Unless, of course, rookie Cody Kessler returns from his concussion first and lights it up.

The latter seems unlikely to happen, so there’s a good chance Griffin will get another shot. It should also be noted that the Browns signed RG3 to a two-year deal this past offseason, so Hue Jackson could be expecting the 26-year-old to be his starter in 2017.

Griffin suffered a broken shoulder in Cleveland’s Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Considering the team has not won a game since, RG3 should be motivated to get back and help them fulfill Joe Haden’s guarantee.
