Report: Browns want 2nd-round pick for Joe Thomas

Joe Thomas Cleveland Browns

There have been many trade rumors involving Joe Thomas over the years, but the left tackle has remained a cornerstone with the Cleveland Browns since 2007. But this year may be the year the Browns finally part ways with him.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reports that the Browns trading Thomas is a real possibility. He says the team is seeking a second-round pick for the 9-time Pro Bowler.

The Vikings, Patriots, Seahawks, Cardinals and Giants are among the teams mentioned as ones that would have interest in Thomas. Minnesota may not have the assets necessary to acquire Thomas, while the Pats reportedly would only be interested in him for the right price.

Florio reports that any deal for Thomas would likely come at the Nov. 1 trade deadline. If the Browns are unable to find a deal that suits their liking, they could look to trade Thomas during the offseason.

Thomas would be a huge pickup for any team that adds him. He is a big reason why the Browns, despite their struggles over the years, have tended to be able to run the ball well. After all, it’s much easier to do things when a guy like Thomas can block two players at the same time.
