Bryce Petty to start Jets’ last four games

Bryce Petty

New York Jets fans got a glimpse on Monday night of what they will be seeing the rest of the season.

Jets head coach Todd Bowles announced after the team’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night that second-year QB Bryce Petty will start the rest of the season for the Jets. Bowles added that the plan all along was to have Petty start the final four games.

Petty entered the game for an ineffective Ryan Fitzpatrick and went 11 for 25 for 135 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. It was the second game this season where Petty saw significant action.

There was a lot of talk given how poorly Fitzpatrick had played this season about the Jets giving Petty a shot at QB. But the hesitation in going to him was the fear of a potential player revolt. With the Jets now 3-9 and their season effectively over, there’s not much to lose.
