Byron Jones destroys broad jump record at NFL Combine (Video)

UConn cornerback Byron Jones is not one of the best defensive back prospects in the 2015 NFL Draft class, but he may become a household name after he shattered the broad jump record at the NFL Scouting Combine on Monday.

Jones had a 12-foot, 3-inch broad jump, easily surpassing New England Patriots linebacker Jamie Collins’ Combine record of 11 feet, 7 inches. Jones is the only NFL prospect to ever clear 12 feet, and he did it with room to spare.

The 22-year-old’s broad jump wasn’t just a Combine record — it may also be a world record. As Andrew Siciliano of the NFL Network noted, the world record in the broad jump is 3.71 meters, or 12 feet, 2 inches. That record has stood since 1968.

We all know a lot of these events at the Scouting Combine result in prospects being severely overrated, but it’s hard to ignore an impressive feat like that. JJ Watt and his insane vertical leap would even be impressed.
