Cam Newton sends message with ‘I win my way’ shirt

Cam Newton has not apologized for the way he handled his postgame press conference after the Panthers lost to the Broncos in the Super Bowl, and he made it clear on Friday that he is not planning to.

Newton sent a strong message by sharing a photo on Instagram that features him wearing a shirt that reads, “I win my way.” He was also standing in front of a photo of Muhammad Ali.

Here’s a version of the caption that is easier to read, courtesy of The Charlotte Observer:

“This season has been an incredible journey and I want to thank PANTHERNATION and all of the fans that (inspired) us to great achievements. (I am not perfect) and I will make mistakes but I will continue to work on improving each day trying (to perfect all my imperfections.) Pursuing greatness is my commitment, and I will continue to be (true) to myself, to my (family) and to making all of (you) who follow me (proud)! (I Will Win) .. MY WAY… and hope to (inspire you all to win…. your way!) -1OVE #dontBEaPUPPET #stayTRÜtoÜ.”

If you haven’t seen the video of Newton’s very brief postgame presser, you can watch it here.

Newton has received plenty of unfair criticism during his NFL career, but the way he acted after the biggest game of his career is inexcusable. That’s the reason fans, analysts and players — including this NFL veteran — have ripped him for it. Even if Newton overheard a Broncos player talking about him and became angry, he needs to be more of a leader after a tough loss.
