Cardale Jones hopes Ezekiel Elliott crushes Emmitt Smith’s records
Cardale Jones must have the memory of an elephant, because the guy never forgets. And that is the big reason why he hopes his former Ohio State teammate Ezekiel Elliott knocks Emmitt Smith out of the Dallas Cowboys’ record books.
Jones sent a tweet on Thursday about Zeke and Emmitt that got some attention:
Hope @EzekielElliott crushes EVERY team rushing record for the @dallascowboys just because @EmmittSmith22 doubted him in the Sugar Bowl
— Cardale Jones (@CJ12_) August 11, 2016
What was Cardale referring to? Back before the 2015 Sugar Bowl, Smith sent a tweet previewing the game’s running backs and only focused on Bama’s backs — Derrick Henry and T.J. Yeldon.
We will have a chance to see two other Very good backs tonight #ALAvsOSU
both for Bama.— Emmitt Smith (@EmmittSmith22) January 1, 2015
Elliott turned out to be the star of the game as he rushed for 230 yards and two touchdowns in the Buckeyes’ shocking 42-35 win.
Though we like how Jones is supporting his former Ohio State teammate, he should learn something about forgiveness and letting go. After all, Emmitt has already attempted to cede his throne to Zeke.
Emmitt is the NFL’s career leader in rush attempts, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. Though we like the idea of Zeke setting that as his standard, it would be awfully tough to break.
