Cardinals fire OC Mike McCoy after disastrous game

The Arizona Cardinals have underachieved on offense this season with Bruce Arians no longer in the picture, and offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is the first member of the coaching staff to take the fall.

The Cardinals announced on Friday that they have fired McCoy and promoted quarterbacks coach Byron Leftwich to OC in the wake of Thursday night’s embarrassing 45-10 loss to the Denver Broncos.

McCoy was in his first season with the Cardinals. He spent four years as the head coach of the San Diego Chargers from 2013-2016 before serving as the offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos last season. With the way things have gone for him at his last two jobs, McCoy could have trouble finding work going forward.

The Cardinals are trying to develop rookie Josh Rosen in what has become a rebuilding year, and they obviously feel McCoy is not the man to help do that.
