Cardinals not planning to make a play for Kirk Cousins?

Kirk Cousins

Kirk Cousins has been linked to a number of quarterback-needy teams this offseason, and the Arizona Cardinals are one of them in the wake of Carson Palmer’s retirement. However, they may choose to go a different route.

Mike Jurecki of ArizonaSports.com does not believe the Cardinals will want to spend the type of money it will take to sign Cousins this offseason. Because of that, he doesn’t even think the team will bother getting in on the bidding.

Simply put, any team that isn’t willing to make Cousins the highest-paid quarterback in football probably need not apply. We have already heard rumblings that at least one team is planning to go all-out for Cousins, so the Cardinals may prefer to develop a rookie behind a veteran rather than investing such a large chunk of their salary cap in one player.
