Carson Wentz says availability for opener will be ‘close’
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz continues to be in a race against time to be ready for the team’s regular season opener.
Wentz is still working his way back to full strength from knee surgery, and says it’s going to be “close” whether he can play on Sept. 6 against the Atlanta Falcons.

The good news for Wentz in his race against the schedule is that he’s set for daily 11-on-11 work now, which is a change from where he’d been at before. The regular practice reps should only help him in his efforts to be ready. That said, Wentz is so important to Philadelphia’s long-term future that they won’t rush him or start him if he’s anything less than 100 percent.
