Report: Chip Kelly had interview with 49ers
Is Chip Kelly the frontrunner for the San Francisco 49ers head coaching job?
According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, Kelly met with the 49ers on Thursday to discuss the position. Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports that San Francisco began considering Chip Kelly as soon as Jim Tomsula was fired. The team also expressed interest in Sean Payton but could not agree with the New Orleans Saints on potential compensation.
49ers began considering Chip, and finalizing decision to fire Tomsula, middle of last week. Couldn't agree on Payton compensation…

La Canfora adds that San Francisco has been Kelly’s best — and perhaps only — potential landing spot since he was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles.
A report from earlier in the week indicated that there is not as much interest in Kelly around the league as some might think. The intriguing part about him potentially joining the 49ers is that there is a belief Chip could maximize Colin Kaepernick’s talents, despite the rumors we have heard about Kaepernick’s future in the Bay Area.
The Niners also met with Buffalo Bills assistant coach Anthony Lynn, according to Maiocco. They were previously linked to Mike Shanahan.
