Chris Conte had good excuse for being punished with stiff arm
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive back Chris Conte was victimized by one of the most brutal stiff arms in NFL history during Monday night’s game, but it turns out he may have had a very valid excuse for getting his lunch money taken.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Conte played through a torn PCL against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he probably should not have been on the field. He is now expected to be out six weeks.
Bucs’ S Chris Conte, the victim of Vance McDonald’s stiff arm, played with a torn PCL Monday night, per source. Conte “gutted it out and honestly shouldn’t have played.” He now will be sidelined the next six weeks, resting an injury he played with vs. Steelers.

Conte tried to tackle Steelers tight end Vance McDonald in the open field and was tossed to the ground like a rag doll. The result was a 75-yard touchdown.

Unfortunately, the way Conte was ruthlessly mocked on social media cannot be undone. Still, it’s a relief to know his tackle attempt wasn’t the effort of an NFL player at 100 percent health.
