Chris Harris: Von Miller should get paid more than JJ Watt

Von Miller

Chris Harris is sticking up for his teammate when it comes to Von Miller’s future pay.

Harris and teammate Brandon Marshall were interviewed by NFL Network and asked whether Miller deserved to be the highest paid defensive player in the game. Both agreed.

Host Lindsay Rhodes then asked whether Miller deserved to be paid over JJ Watt.

“J.J. Watt doesn’t have a ring. Von has a ring, and he’s the (Super Bowl) MVP,” Harris said without hesitation. “The way he’s been able to lead us with his rushing ability … he still has a lot left. He still has a lot of improvement to do to get better.”

The Broncos know they will have their hands full with trying to sign Miller long term. The highest paid defensive player in the game in Ndamukong Suh, who signed a six-year, $114 million deal with the Miami Dolphins last offseason. Watt is second after signing a six-year, $100 million deal prior to the 2014 season.

Coming off winning Super Bowl MVP in a dominating performance against the Panthers and before that a spectacular AFC Championship Game against the Patriots, Miller is poised to receive big money. And as we explained earlier, the Broncos are likely to retain him for at least next season via the franchise tag.

This all is probably music to Miller’s ears.
