Colin Kaepernick has altered his throwing motion

Colin Kaepernick

Colin Kaepernick has spent time this offseason working on his throwing motion, and a difference has been noticed during OTAs.

The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows has an article about Kaepernick’s changes and says there are two noticeable things the young 49ers QB has changed.

According to Barrows, Kaepernick is now using a wider base when he throws that includes his feet being a little more than shoulder width apart, rather than closer together to give him a more narrow base. The second change involves keeping his left shoulder in closer to his body when he throws to keep his delivery more compact.

Kaep was working with quarterbacks coach Dennis Gile over the offseason, who helped instill the changes.

There is a big difference between being able to make changes during practice and training and also being able to do it in games. Sometimes players have a tendency to revert to their old form because of years of muscle memory and comfort. But if Kaepernick is able to stick to the changes, maybe we’ll see him improve upon his career 60.1 completion percentage.
