Report: Colin Kaepernick is ‘chief target’ for Broncos
The Broncos are reportedly serious about acquiring Colin Kaepernick now that Brock Osweiler has signed with the Texans.
NFL.com’s Mike Silver provided some insight about Denver’s plan Thursday morning. It sounds like the Broncos have already discussed a trade with the 49ers, who are looking for draft pick compensation if they deal Kaepernick.
1) What I just reported on @nflnetwork re Broncos: Colin Kaepernick is their chief target. I believe they will go after him via trade…

2) The 49ers likely want a second-round pick; Broncos may be willing to part with a third. The dance continues.

While Kaepernick already has a team-friendly contract that essentially equates to a series of one-year deals, he is reportedly willing to tweak it if the Broncos would like him to.
3) I'm told Kaepernick is likely willing to restructure contract to Broncos' liking… Though, to be fair, it is somewhat team-friendly…

If the reports we heard about the way Osweiler acted during negotiations with the Broncos are accurate, it’s possible they have been working on a trade for Kaepernick for a few days. Kaepernick’s agent is said to have asked the Niners to explore trade possibilities, and previous rumors linked him to a different team in the AFC.
The Broncos would likely offer Kaepernick an opportunity to start in Gary Kubiak’s run-heavy offense. We know the 28-year-old is not a gifted passer, but Denver and its stellar defense would not ask him to do a whole lot.
