Colin Kaepernick jerseys taken off clearance after Chip Kelly hiring
The San Francisco 49ers have hired Chip Kelly as their next head coach, and all indications are that the move will provide Colin Kaepernick with a shot at redemption.
The Niners’ team store certainly indicates that will be the case.
After the 49ers announced that they reached a deal with Kelly, freelance reporter Mike Rosenberg noticed that all Kaepernick merchandise in the team’s official online store had been taken off clearance.

While we can’t confirm if that happened right after the Kelly signing, we can confirm that prices on Kaepernick’s jerseys were heavily discounted toward the end of the regular season. You can see proof of that here.
Kelly had success with mobile quarterbacks — one being Marcus Mariota — at Oregon, so there is a sense that he will be able to maximize Kaepernick’s talents. In fact, one report indicates that Kelly was going to try to trade for or sign Kaepernick even if the coach didn’t end up in San Francisco.
Remember all the negative stuff we heard about Kaepernick back in November? That suddenly seems like a distant memory.
