Colts release statement supporting Peyton Manning

Peyton Manning

The Indianapolis Colts on Sunday released a statement showing their support for Peyton Manning in the wake of performance-enhancing drug use allegations.

“We’ve been made aware of the recent Al Jazeera report concerning Peyton Manning and find it utterly ridiculous,” the statement read. “We are thoroughly familiar with Peyton’s tireless work habits, his medical history, and, most importantly, his integrity. Peyton played the game in Indianapolis for 14 years the right way. He never took any shortcuts and it would be absurd to suggest he would have taken prohibited performance enhancing drugs. We also note that the ‘source’ of this allegation has since recanted his story. The entire Indianapolis Colts organization and the Irsay family hope this crude effort to besmirch Peyton’s reputation will not be permitted to tarnish the legacy of a great Colt.”

In an appearance on ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Manning angrily blasted the report that links him to human growth hormone. He said he did receive treatment at the Indianapolis clinic in question back in 2011 but was accompanied by Colts trainers and did nothing that was against NFL rules.

You can see a video of Manning’s fiery interview here.

According to the Al Jazeera report, Manning received shipments of HGH to his home in his wife Ashley’s name. A representative for Manning confirmed that Ashley had a prescription from an anti-aging clinic. The person who made the allegations against Manning has retracted all of his statements.
