Report: Colts to name Josh McDaniels head coach after Super Bowl

Josh McDaniels

Josh McDaniels is preparing to coach in what could be his last game as the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots, as the Indianapolis Colts are reportedly on the verge of naming him their next head coach.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts met with McDaniels on Friday and came to an agreement with the 41-year-old.

According to Schefter’s colleague Chris Mortensen, Colts owner Jim Irsay was present for the most recent meeting with McDaniels.

McDaniels already had one failed stint with the Denver Broncos as a head coach, so this could be his last chance to prove he is capable of leading a team. It makes sense that he wants to work with Andrew Luck, assuming the latest reports we have heard about the Colts quarterback’s health are true.

With Matt Patricia having accepted the head coaching job with the Detroit Lions, the Patriots will lose both their offensive and defensive coordinator after the Super Bowl.
