Corey Coleman returns to practice, ‘getting closer’

Corey Coleman

The Cleveland Browns may still be seeking their first win of the season, but at least they got some good news this week.

Wide receiver Corey Coleman, who is one of the bright spots on the team, returned to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday.

Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot says Coleman only ran routes and did not have any balls thrown his way, but his appearance at practice has head coach Hue Jackson saying the rookie is “getting closer” to returning to action.

“He’s getting closer,” said Jackson. “He was limited today. He ran around, did some things, had shoulder pads on and doing a little football. We’ll know more about all these guys as we get closer to the end of the week. It’s good just to have him out there running around again and being with his teammates.”

Coleman, a first-round pick, only played in two games before suffering a broken hand in practice that has kept him out since Week 3. The Baylor product had seven catches for 173 yards and two touchdowns prior to his injury.

Once Coleman returns to action, he will team with Terrelle Pryor and Gary Barnidge to give the Browns some good receiving options. Unfortunately the team’s quarterback situation continues to be haunted with injuries.
