Cowboys to work out Christian Ponder, Josh Johnson

Christian Ponder

The Dallas Cowboys are desperate for quarterback help with Tony Romo out for an extended period of time with a broken collarbone, and they are looking for depth.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Charean Williams, the Cowboys will work out Christian Ponder and Josh Johnson on Tuesday. She also says the team will work out Sacramento State product McLeod Bethel-Thompson.

The Cowboys also reached out to veteran Jason Campbell, but he decided to remain retired. Kyle Orton, who was with the Cowboys from 2012-2013, is not a realistic possibility because of his poor relationship with the team and Tony Romo.

The Cowboys are in bad shape with only Brandon Weeden and Dustin Vaughan on the team’s depth chart at quarterback. They need a capable body badly.
