Cowboys’ CJ Spillman investigated for alleged rape

CJ Spillman

Dallas Cowboys special teams player C.J. Spillman is being investigated for an alleged rape, according to the New York Daily News.

Police in Grapevine, Texas, told the Daily news that Spillman is involved in an investigation for an alleged sexual assault that occurred at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, which is the Dallas Cowboys’ team hotel.

Spillman, who was an undrafted free agent out of Marshall and has spent time with the Chargers and 49ers during his six-year career, played in Dallas’ game against the St. Louis Rams in Week 3, the day after the assault allegedly occurred.

Less than a week after the alleged incident, attorney Gloria Allred publicized that she had a client who claimed to have been raped by an NFL player who was allowed to play the next day. Allred made a specific point to say that she hand-delivered a letter to the NFL’s offices about her client’s claims.

Despite the severity of the accusation, it is important to note that police are just investigating right now and Spillman has not been charged with any crime.

Spillman has made one tackle this season and 87 during his career, which has been spent mostly on special teams.
