Cowboys plan to negotiate extension with Amari Cooper
The Dallas Cowboys gave up a first-round pick for wide receiver Amari Cooper, so it makes total sense that they’d want to get him signed to a long-term extension.
Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones confirmed as much on Monday, noting that the team expects to be able to lock Cooper down long-term.
Cowboys VP Stephen Jones: “In general, we believe we’re going to sign Amari to an extension. That goes without saying. We feel like he was worth the No. 1, and I think part of making it worth it is that we eventually sign him to an extension.” https://t.co/Ap2QrF9hJM

Cooper is signed through 2019. They’re certainly not afraid to put a lot on his shoulders. After giving up a top pick for him, the expectation is he’ll be the team’s No. 1 receiver for years to come, even if his numbers with the Oakland Raiders didn’t quite show him as one.
