Dak Prescott says he will not force passes to Dez Bryant

Dez-Bryant

Dez Bryant was a disappointment for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, coming down with only one 8-yard reception. Don’t expect the Cowboys to go out of the way to change that, though.

Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott said Wednesday that the team will obviously try to keep Bryant involved in the offense, but they aren’t going to force throws that aren’t there.

“I know some people kind of threaten and you’ve got to try to get some of your playmakers the ball, but then you get away from your offense,” Prescott said, via Drew Davison of the Star-Telegram. “You get away from things that you normally do when you do that. So I think it’s important for us to just make sure that we keep running our offense.

“Dez will have balls throughout our offense. He’ll have balls thrown at him this week, he’ll make some grabs, we’ll make some throws, we’ll get some completions on all the guys. All the guys will have chances.”

Prescott certainly wasn’t backing down, though, on forcing throws to his star receiver.

“I’m going to continue to run our offense,” Prescott said. “If Dez is the read, Dez is the read.”

Of course, Bryant will be licking his chops viewing the defense he’s up against in Week 2. He may well have a much bigger day
