Dan Quinn: Falcons need to get Julio Jones the ball more

Julio Jones

The Atlanta Falcons have failed to reach the same heights that they did in 2016, and part of that has been down to wide receiver Julio Jones’s decreased contributions.

Jones has just one red zone target this season and has yet to grab a touchdown, and though he’s still getting catches, he was only targeted seven times on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins — a disappointing total for one of the game’s best receivers. Coach Dan Quinn knows that must change.

“No,” Quinn said when asked if he was happy with Jones’s level of involvement in the offense, via Vaughn McClure of ESPN. “No I’m not.”

Jones had huge ambitions for 2017, but his year has been underwhelming in virtually every respect. It’s no coincidence that the same could be said of the Falcons’ season as a whole.
