Dan Snyder bought ‘Keep the Name’ Redskins T-shirts from street vendor
Dan Snyder has been fighting as hard as possible to make sure his Redskins retain their nickname, so it’s no surprise that he bought some T-shirts that support the cause.
Two Skins fans named Sean Labar and Shelby Myers have been marketing and selling “Keep the Name” T-shirts online and in person for a few weeks. On Saturday, they had their most notable customer when Snyder and his wife stopped by their stand following the team’s practice on Fan Appreciation Day.
Labar told The Washington Post’s D.C. Sports Bog that Snyder’s black Escalade cut across three lanes of traffic and pulled over in front of them. Snyder’s wife, Tanya, started looking through the shirts and bought four of them. Labar told The Bog that the Snyders’ security came back a half hour later and bought six more shirts.
Labar, unsurprisingly, described the purchase by the Snyders as “cool” and the “pinnacle” for them.
He also tweeted the following:

Why did Labar get into the business of selling keep the name shirts?
“I’ve always been a Redskins fan, and always identified with the pride that was associated with the name,” Labar said via the Sports Bog. “I grew up singing Hail to the Redskins and watching Chief Zee get the crowd excited. There is just too much history that is associated with the name.”
It might not be long before the shirts are merely collectors items. There is a lot of public pressure — coming from even politicians — to have the offensive team name changed.
