Danny Amendola’s groin injury reportedly a ‘bad one’
Danny Amendola was one of the central figures in the New England Patriots’ Week 1 win over the Buffalo Bills. The free agent acquisition had 10 catches on 14 targets for 104 yards and looked like Tom Brady’s favorite receiver. But just like his past two seasons, Amendola got hurt.
Amendola has a groin injury and the Patriots say he could be out 2-6 weeks. He did not suit up for Thursday’s Week 2 game against the New York Jets and will likely be out for Week 3. Amendola’s availability beyond that will depend on how he recovers, but it sounds like he’ll be out for the longer part of that estimate.
Boston Herald Patriots writer Karen Guregian reports that a source told her six weeks is more common for the type of groin injury Amendola has. Guregian also says a source told her Amendola’s injury is a “bad one.”
With the way the Pats offense looked on Thursday night, they’re going to be in trouble if Amendola has to miss the next five weeks. It’s going to be an offensive struggle until they get Amendola and/or Gronk back.
