Darrelle Revis seems annoyed by Patriots not allowing his mom at party

Darrelle Revis Patriots

Darrelle Revis signed with the New England Patriots last season with a goal of winning a championship, and that’s exactly what happened. Despite that, it does not seem like the relationship he has with his former team is all that friendly.

When the Patriots received their Super Bowl rings at a private party at owner Robert Kraft’s house last month, Revis was unable to attend for personal reasons. He sent his mom to Foxboro in his place to retrieve the ring, but she was reportedly informed that the party was for players and their guests only. Revis’ mom had to pick up the hardware at the team offices.

Was Revis offended? He was asked about it in the latest issue of Sports Illustrated, and his response sure made it seem like he was.

“If that’s how they want to do things, that’s fine,” the All-Pro corner said, per Bernie Augustine of the New York Daily News. “I’m not going to waste my time on it.”

It’s unclear if Revis’ mom knew ahead of time that she was not welcome at the party or if she flew to Boston thinking it wouldn’t be an issue.

What we do know, however, is that Revis didn’t exactly defend the Patriots earlier this offseason when asked about Deflategate. He also posted some comments on Instagram that made Patriots fans feel he is ungrateful.

For all we know, Revis and the Patriots could simply be stoking the competitive fire now that they are once again division rivals. But on the surface, the divorce is starting to look like a contentious one.
