Darrelle Revis did not know Marquise Goodwin was track and field star

Darrelle Revis Jets

Had Darrelle Revis known Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin competed on the U.S. track and field team at the 2012 London Olympics, would the seven-time Pro Bowler have been less likely to get torched for an 84-yard touchdown?

Following his second consecutive rough game in coverage, Revis was asked about Goodwin’s blazing speed.

“He’s fast. He’s definitely fast,” Revis said, via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “He’s just a fast receiver. I don’t know if he’s a track star, but he’s just a fast receiver.”

Well, Darrelle, he is a track star — or at least he was. A reporter then asked Revis if he would be surprised to learn that Goodwin competed in the Olympics.

“No, I wouldn’t be surprised,” he replied. “I definitely wouldn’t.”

Jets head coach Todd Bowles defended Revis after the game by saying the veteran was in zone coverage, but the tape doesn’t lie. Regardless of whether he was in man-to-man coverage, Revis got dusted. You can see the video for yourself here.

Revis obviously didn’t do his homework, even if that’s not the reason he got beat.
