D’Brickashaw Ferguson is reportedly retiring

DBrickashaw-Ferguson-JetsNew York Jets offensive tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson has reportedly decided to retire.

Rich Cimini of ESPN.com was the first to pass the news along.

Ferguson, 32, has appeared in every single game during his 10 year career and missed just one snap since he was drafted with the fourth overall pick in 2006. He is said to be healthy and not battling any new injuries, so the move is a complete shocker.

Ferguson was set to make $10 million in 2016 and was carrying a salary cap hit of $14.1 million, and the Jets had reportedly asked him to take a pay cut so they could bring back their starting quarterback. This will give the team all the salary relief it needs and then some, though it will also leave them with a gaping hole on the offensive line that used to be filled by a three-time Pro Bowler.
